How to use the Kōkasoku portal
A guide for players: signing in, profile, rating, countries, tournaments, the Telegram bot and your data.
Signing in and registering
The “Sign in” button is in the top right corner. There are three ways to sign in:
- With Google — one button, no password.
- With Telegram — a page opens with an “Open Telegram” button. In the @riichi_kokasokubot bot press “Start”, then “✅ Sign in” and come back to the site — sign-in completes by itself. If you came back to a different page, press “↩️ Back to the website” in the bot. A Telegram account can be created without an email.
- With email and password (at least 8 characters): the “Register” tab — name, email, password and the privacy consent; a confirmation email follows. Forgot the password — “Forgot your password?” under the sign-in button.
Google and Telegram can later be linked to an existing account in your profile, so you can sign in either way.

My profile
“My profile” (kokasoku.com/profile) is your personal area: upcoming tournaments, number of tournaments, club games and online hanchans, offline and online stats (places, wins, deal-ins), Mahjong Soul and Tenhou ranks, and settings. The “Refresh MS / Tenhou stats” buttons pull fresh data.
If the portal already had your player card (from tournaments or club games), your profile is linked to it: when the name matches it links itself, otherwise paste a link to your card under “Re-link player profile”. How other players see you is the player card, covered in the next section.

The player card
The player card is open to everyone: kokasoku.com/player/<number>, e.g. kokasoku.com/player/21. A player's name in the rating, tournament and club lists links to it. At the top are the country (links to the country page), the city (links to the city's player rating), the club, the EMA number and ranks. Below are three tiles, each opening a detailed tab:
- Kōkasoku — rating place and points, how they changed over two years through tournaments and decay, and when points will drop without new games. Below is club play: Pantheon seasons, places, recent games. If the club keeps its rating in its own system connected to the portal (as the Sofia club does), that rating is shown.
- EMA — place among the players of your country and in Europe, active tournaments over two years (100% power in the first year, 50% in the second), all EMA tournaments and what changes without new games. If the player has never played an EMA tournament, the tile is inactive.
- Online — Tenhou and Mahjong Soul: the current rank, how it changed month by month, rank ups and downs, the share of 1st–4th places and recent games.
“Strong opponents” are high-level players you played most: first the Kōkasoku top 5, Saint and above on Mahjong Soul, 5 dan and above on Tenhou, then Master and 4 dan, then Expert and 1–3 dan. At the club only opponents with at least 10 games together count; the EMA tab lists opponents from shared EMA tournaments.
Below the tabs are all of the player's tournaments and links to mahjong.click ratings. The previous page layout opens with “Old profile version” in the top right.

Profile settings
Settings are below the stats on “My profile”. Everything here you fill in yourself:
- Account: email, Google and Telegram linking, name in Latin and Cyrillic, in any language such as English, Serbian or German (the Cyrillic one is filled in automatically — fix it if needed), country, club and city. The club you choose sees you straight away.
- Display name: show your real name or a nickname in the rating; you can hide club, Mahjong Soul or Tenhou stats from your public page. The page then keeps only the club and the online rank, without details, and with club stats hidden you do not appear in other players' “Strong opponents”.
- Online accounts: Mahjong Soul nickname, Tenhou nickname and EMA number — ranks and stats appear after saving.
- Club ratings (Pantheon): a link to your club's rating if your club records games in Pantheon.
- Contacts and equipment: phone and Telegram, mahjong sets (name, tile size, condition, quantity), mats and photos. If you don't mind lending sets for a tournament in your city, fill this in — it makes gathering equipment easier for organisers.
Your club's leaders and your country's representatives work with this data: contacts, level and equipment help them run tournaments and grow mahjong. Public pages never show contacts.

The rating
The home page is the Kōkasoku rating: tournament points, Mahjong Soul and Tenhou ranks, number of tournaments. The flags on top filter by country, the “Mahjong Soul” and “Tenhou” tabs show separate online ratings, and search works by name and nickname. The rating lists players from association countries; choosing “Other” as your country keeps your profile on the portal but removes it from the general rating.
How points are counted, plus rules, organisations and riichi history, are in the “Wiki”.

Countries
The “Countries” menu section (kokasoku.com/countries) lists every association country in one table: the country's EMA place and the average points of its top three players, the number of players and how many are in the EMA ranking, tournaments, European Championship seats, clubs and strong online players (Master I / 4 dan and above). A country that has applied to the EMA is marked “⏳ pending”.
A country page (e.g. kokasoku.com/country/armenia): the flags on top switch to another country; next to them are contacts, social links and representatives. Below are three tiles:
- Kōkasoku — the country's clubs with links to their pages, its tournaments and the top 5 players; if the country has its own club rating, its table.
- EMA (for EMA member countries) — the country's best players in the EMA ranking, EMA tournaments in the country, players with one active tournament and EMA tournaments abroad with the country's players.
- Online — the country's strongest Mahjong Soul and Tenhou players.
At the bottom are all the country's players and its description.

Tournaments and registration
“Tournaments” lists upcoming events (date, place, rating — Kōkasoku or EMA, registration, number of players) and past ones with results. The flags on top filter by country.
A tournament page has the description, schedule, participants and the registration form. When you are signed in, your name, city and EMA number come from your profile, and with linked Telegram your @username too. At the bottom are two ticks: consent to the privacy policy (required) and consent to photos and video, which is on by default; if you untick it you are still registered and the organiser knows not to film you. You can also register someone else with “Register another”.
The EMA number is needed for EMA-rated tournaments. If you don't know it, leave it empty: the portal takes it from your card, and new players get a number from their country federation.

The Telegram bot
The @riichi_kokasokubot bot sends system notifications. To get them for your tournaments, sign in with Telegram or link it in your profile (“Telegram → Link Telegram”).
- New tournaments — in all countries or selected ones: set it in your profile (“New tournament alerts”) or in the bot with /subscribe.
- Messages from organisers of tournaments you registered for and from your country's representatives. They come with a “✅ Got it” button so the organiser sees you read them.
- The bot language is English by default; switch it with /language.
The bot does not answer messages: for tournament questions contact the organiser — their contacts are on the tournament page.
AI assistant (MCP) · beta
You can connect the portal to an AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) as the kokasoku.com/mcp connector and sign in with your account. The assistant acts only with your rights: it finds players, clubs and tournaments, shows the rating, registers you for a tournament and edits your profile, contacts and equipment. Example: “Register me for the next tournament in Yerevan” or “Add a 28 mm set in good condition to my profile”.
Your data
The portal runs on a server in Germany (EU). Passwords are stored only as hashes and the site uses HTTPS. Contacts are visible only to your club's leaders, your country's representatives and admins — public pages never show them. Visits are counted only by Google Analytics.
You can hide from the rating, show a nickname instead of your name, and ask for your data to be corrected or deleted. The fastest way is through your club leader or country representative; the Kōkasoku administration can help too. Details are in the privacy policy.
